Abstract

The Meta-analysis of the academic production of Study Group “GT8,” associated to the narrative of its historical recall, is the main purpose of this study, as the result of a requested paper for the 30th ANPEd Annual Meeting (2007) and updated in 2009. This is a theoretical and historical investigation as well as record checking that aims to recall the development of research in “GT Formação de Professores (GT8).” The expositional method is diacronical-sincronical and the one used for investigation is dialetical. The establishment and consolidation of “GT8” have become known for its shared research as well as for scientific and academic intervention among experienced and young investigators. Most of them are students at Graduate Programs on Education. The historical recall settles down “GT8” among the other 23 “GT’s” of ANPEd and brings up its identity as a specific slot for reflections, discussions, debates and impingements regarding studies in the field of Educational Professionals’ training. The results of the analysis of the 118 studies (1999-2008) indicate that the consolidation of the “GT8” comes from the collective effort from two different groups. One of them is represented by the basic group of official researchers who are concerned about promoting interaction among research lines of the Graduate Programs; developing inter-institutional and integrated projects; producing knowledge about teacher education for schoolteachers and teacher educators. Although the second group is bigger than the first one, its participation is informal. The research developed by the first group sets up the ethos of “GT8.”
